Windows 8 Project Call @MIC Brussels - Kick-off


 

MIC Brussels is launching a call for projects to build Windows 8 Apps. We are looking for companies, developers, startups and students to join the program and receive training and guidance in building an app.

Windows 8 has been launched, with a huge monetization and discoverability opportunity for Windows 8 apps at with global reach. The world is your new marketplace.

The project call consists of a series of training sessions, coaching and app excellence certification labs to help companies and developers get their apps on Windows 8.

Day 1: Presentations and labs

  • Designing Apps with  the Windows Personality
  • Everything Web Developers Must Know to Build  Apps
  • Building  Apps with XAML: What .NET Developers Need to Know
  • Building Windows 8 UIs

 

Day 2: Presentations and labs

  • Integrating with the Windows 8 Experiences 
  • Bring Your Apps to Life with Tile and Notifications
  • How and when apps run
  • Building  apps that take advantage of modern hardware
  • The Developer Opportunity:   Introducing the Windows Store

 

Hands-on sessions technical pre-requisites

  • Familiarity writing either desktop apps, mobile applications or developing websites. Familiarity with either Javascript, C# or C++.
  • Bring your own laptop: any device capable of running Windows 8 and Visual Studio Express.
    If the software is not already installed, you will need a partition with ~30 GB of free space to install the bits.
  • Required software:
    • Download the Windows 8 SDK samples

Loïc Bar

Loïc Bar started an ICT company 4 years ago and had the chance to work on multiple projects all over the world leveraging Microsoft technologies such as Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC, WCF, etc. Today, Loïc takes technical leadership on web based development and will be responsible for Windows 8 development. He wrote three technical books and was MVP from 2008 to 2010.
