Windows 8 @MIC Brussels Appathon competition
MIC Brussels is organizing a Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 App competition. We are looking for companies, developers, startups and students to join the App-a-thon competition and receive training and guidance in building an app. A developer coach and a UX coach will help you with your application during the competition.
Some apps will be also selected for the developer story behind it for MIC and MSDN online content and future events.

On the 21st of February and before the end of the competition you will be invited to submit to the Windows Store.
Important: In order to be able to submit your application, you have prior to the event, to register on the Windows Store as an individual. As it takes few days for the process to be complete, we advise you to resgister as soon as possible.

Hands-on sessions technical pre-requisites
- Bring your own laptop: any device capable of running Windows 8 and Visual Studio Express.
If the software is not already installed, you will need a partition with ~30 GB of free space to install the bits.

Loïc Bar started an ICT company 4 years ago and had the chance to work on multiple projects all over the world leveraging Microsoft technologies such as Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC, WCF, etc. Today, Loïc takes technical leadership on web based development and will be responsible for Windows 8 development. He wrote three technical books and was MVP from 2008 to 2010.
Leslie is co-founder of Pureplexity, digital agency from Bruges, where she is responsible for interface design and UX of web and touch projects. Leslie has a linguistic background but soon specialised in translation of web interfaces and software. From there on she continued to dive deeper into user interfaces across platforms and became certified as a UX designer. She also guides external projects as a UX consultant
Due to his high motivation in learning new techniques and methods, his ability to function as a real team-player, easily communicating and adapting to new environments, made it possible for Mike to join projects in several different environments, that needed these adaptive capabilities to embrace new knowledge and methods. After experience in programming, testing, and training, Mike started to broaden his profile by entering projects involving aspects like installations and system management. For his current employer, he also gained some management and organisational skills, this due to the fact that Mike leads a Competence Center for Microsoft related development tools , applications, servers and practices. Recently Mike became Microsoft Center of Excellence Lead for Application Lifecycle Management and Enterprise Architecture
With over 7 years of experience in custom software development, Kristof has skills in analysis, databases, backend and frontend development, agile project management, coaching, team leading and system administration.
He started as the developer for a large application at Elia, extended his knowledge as the lead developer for various .net and java applications and then became an architect working on projects for various big Belgian and international companies in France, China, Canada and the US.
Thanks to his profound knowledge of English, French and Dutch and his interest in learning new languages like Spanish, he is a great communicator and a solid bridge between customers and the development teams which enables him to deliver high technological and functional quality.
As an architect he is an independent worker, a good organizer and someone who can deliver quality within time and budget. Thanks to his previous experiences he is willing to take ownership of issues, complete solutions and remote or locale development teams. He is assertive, able to make clear what is needed to achieve goals and someone you can trust to have a successful project.
Nico Vermeir is a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer in .NET 4.0 and currently works at RealDolmen, one of Belgium's largest IT companies, as a developer. He's very interested in everything .NET but especially the XAML based technologies like WPF, Silverlight, Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 Metro. You can find him at alot of Belgium based developer conferences both as an attendee and as a speaker. Nico is a founding member and current board member of the Belgian Metro development user group. He's also member of the Microsoft Extended Experts Team
Jonathan Baeyens, IT market analyst at Brussels Enterprise Agency. Mr. Baeyens graduated in Commercial Science from Cooremans Business School and in Graphic Industry from HEFF. He started his career in the IT sector as an Account Manager at Sage and developing SAP customer solutions at Alti-Cernum.
Stéphane Vidouse is main developer at Cassio (www.cassio.be), a Point Of Sale Software company. His interests are C#, XAML, Windows Phone, Windows 8 and Windows Azure. He develop on is own time apps for the Windows (phone) store such as « Blague du matin » or « Fast Food Locator » and attend on major Hackathon in Belgium & France (BeMyApp, DevKings, …). He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) since 1995. Stéphane is an active member of the Windows Phone & Windows 8 community on Facebook.
Diederik Krols is a principal consultant for U2U Consult (http://www.u2uconsult.com), a topnotch Belgian Microsoft Partner. He leads, designs and develops software applications that rely on new or upcoming Microsoft technologies. He's specializing in C#, XAML, and SQL Server, and currently working on websites for Azure and line-of-business apps for the Windows 8 platform. In his 25-years career he delivered enterprise-wide mission critical projects in the military, financial, medical, and industrial world. At home, Diederik raises five children and brews Belgian beer
Hans Le Roy
Hans Le Roy is MVP for Internet Explorer. His main activities are in Compuserve and Microsoft Answers forums, where he gives especial attention to user doubts and problems in Internet Explorer, Windows and Office. He teaches in HUBrussel and CVO KHNB.
